Welcome to 'Synform'

Three-dimensional tectonic modelling of the Zone of Erbendorf-Vohenstrauß
'Synform' was the name of the two year DFG (German Scientific Reseach Body) project BE 1041/9 completed in June 1997.

The aims were:

To produce a model of the Zone of Erbendorf/Vohenstrauß (ZEV; a distinct geological unit on the western border of the Bohemian Massif),
To sequentially remove, in reverse, the Mesozoic deformation events which affected the ZEV using three-dimensional retro-modelling techniques.

This site contains all documents, diagrams and three-dimensional models relating to the project in HTML, GIF and VRML (Virtual Reality Modelling Language) formats. The latter is readable using a suitable plug-in for viewing VRML.
